Greenberg Days
Three weeks ago I started working at Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research, yes the same company that got my hopes up then dashed them away so quickly. But that is all a swirl of dark and bitter cold water under the bridge.
As an intern my duties include, relieving the secretary when she needs to go to lunch or have a smoke, making "banner books", doing research, and looking through all the daily newspapers for information relavant to our clients. At times it can get a bit mundane, but hopefully after yesterday that will all be a thing of the past.Friday it snowed in Washington so the district's residents, with a northern attitude and southern mentality, decided not to go into work. Only two of us interns showed up with our intern coordinator "working" from home and secretary too afraid to drive to work. Since the other intern knows how to basically do nothing but answer the phones mediocrely, I gave her that job while I did production and research all day. I ended up staying till 7pm and having a beer with the other stragglers in the office. Now everyone loves me and the VP wants to take me out to lunch for my hard work.
So even though I might have some good and bad days, I think for now this job is going to work out. At least I get to meet some really interesting and intelligent people (Thursday I met Itzak Rabin's son) and make some really good contacts.
So that thus far has been my life. Wake up at 7 and home by 7. Last weekend Matt and I went out and saw The Hours, which was brilliant and in a few weeks Sheb comes to visit, which I am really looking foward to.
I also want to tell everybody who has HBO that they must watch Da' Ali G Show. And if you don't get why he is funny, then I honestly don't know what to do for you. Rolling Stone had a damn funny interview with him this month. I was reading it at work the other day which was a v. bad idea, I almost cause I scene laughing so hard. If anybody wants to tape the show for me I will love you forever.
