Hope is on the Way

My body's utter refusal to sleep past noon is quite irritating. As is the fact that someone has eaten my banana! Fiend! Have no fear, I still have an untouched orange in the fridge that should sustain me.

Last night I dreamt about the convention (and eating regular food but let's skip over that). I dreamt that John Kerry won the kids vote. Remember when you are in school and you practice voting? I dreamt that vote was actually counted all over the country and Kerry was holding up a plaque saying "Even our nation's children no longer believe in Bush!"

Once more last night the convention had me in tears. First is was the Rev. Al Sharpton who had me searching for a tissue. Then it was that piece on the Worcester fire and how Kerry turned his plane around and headed back home to be with the victims families.

Here is an exert from John Edwards's speech last night:

"We're here to make America stronger at home so she can get ahead. And we're here to make America respected in the world so that we can bring him home and American soldiers don't have to fight the war in Iraq and the war on terror alone.

So when you return home, you might pass a mother on her way to work the late-shift you tell her... hope is on the way.

When your brother calls and says that he's working all the time at the office and still can't get ahead you tell him... hope is on the way.

When your parents call and tell you their medical bills are through the roof, you tell them... hope is on the way.

When your neighbor calls you and says that her daughter has worked hard and wants to go to college you tell her... hope is on the way.

When you talk to your son or daughter who is serving this country and protecting our freedoms in Iraq you tell them hope is on the way.

We choose hope over despair; possibilities over problems, optimism over cynicism. We choose to do what's right even when those around us say. You can't do that. We choose to be inspired because we know that we can do better because this is America where everything is still possible.

What we believe, what John Kerry and I believe is that you should never look down on anybody, that we should lift people up. We don't believe in tearing people apart. We believe in bringing people together. What we believe what I believe is that the family you're born into and the color of your skin in our America should never control your destiny."

Proud to Be an American

I am sitting on the couch in my pink pajamas watching one of my favourite disfunctional Dawson's Creek episodes. The Christmas one from the second to last season where a drunken Audrey tells it like it is boo ya! I also like the slurred speech given by Todd the director where he mentions schutping some blond on a plane in a mile high club attempt. Ahhh Christmas.

The reason I am nestled on my couch watching daytime television is because last Wednesday was my last day at the terrible Arrow job. The bitch who hired me waited until I left at 6pm to call the temp agency so that they could tell me not to come in the next day. What if I had left stuff there? oh well, I hated that gig. Now I can just relax this week. I do have Silvia's wedding to look forward to tomorrow.

Robbie Williams on Leno tonight.

All this week my family and I have been watching the convention on CSPAN. I am such a wimp that I end up crying every night. The speech by Barack Obama last night was amazing and so inspiring that it made me want to move to Illinois just so I could vote for him. I urge everyone to watch. Al Franken said on CNN this morning that the networks not carrying the convention is a sin and I agree. So what if it does not bring in as great a ratings as Mom Swap? It is vital for the public to be informed about their government so that they might make educated decisions when they go to the polls. God forbid we have to wait till next week to see what schenanegans Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie get up to while they make fun of those less fortunate than them.

Take This Job and Shove It

I officially dislike this job a whole lot. I don't hate it, but I can understand why the last person quit. My throat actually hurts from all the talking and I have been known to sing along to the radio for five straight hours en route from DC to NYC.

If anyone out there has any cheaper way for me to get to Scotland other than $622.54 send it my way.

Things I have been thinking about recently:
How pretty Lindsay Lohan is.
How to control my ball better during tennis.
My dress for Silvia's wedding.
Plane tickets.
The trans-siberian railroad.

Well Tonight I'm Gonna Live For Today

Happy Fourth. I celebrated by drinking an incredibly large beer. How bout you?

Found this site called RobbiesRadio.com. They have an internet radio station that just plays Robbie songs. It is sick so of course I am listening to it now...

Wednesday I start a new temp job working for Arrow Electronics as a secretary. I really enjoyed this week off, but having a paycheck is a good thing also.

I also found the most hilarious blog last night and stayed up till after 1am reading it. ikeepadiary.com. Brian, I love you, you are too funny mate.

Here is my Robbie update for the week- he is sleeping with Samantha Mumba. Gross.

And I don't know what else to say. oh right...

This week I got to hang out with my Aunt and cousin Tara who came up from Georgia to visit. We went to the Met one day and succeeded in being the last people in the museum because Tara and Ryan had to go find a bathroom. After being repeatedly asked to leave and the guards attempting to persuade us that the kids could not possibly still being in the museum, we see the two of them waltzing out of the Egypt hall like nothing is happening. Just as we turn to finally leave, my mom drops a glass bottle full of water on the marble floor. The guards are in such a hurry for us to leave, they all just starting shouting, leave it leave it!

The next day we went to Jones beach and embarrassed ourselves in front of the whole beach because we could not close these pop up cabanas my mom bought. After forty five minutes of folding them, realizing it is still not the proper shape to fit in the little bag provided and having the thing spring back to life so humorously for all the beach goers surrounding us, we decide just to bring them back to the car unfolded, in full cabana shape, with the intention of just shoving it into the trunk when we get there. Of course that means we have to drag two cabanas through the beach back to the car. The two kids decide it will be easier to get in the cabanas and wear them like a skirt then carry them. All this as the rest of us are dragging my mom's wheel chair through the sand back to the parking lot. Have you ever dragged a wheel chair with a person in it through the sand? It ain't easy and it ain't quick, I can tell you that much.

So basically it was your typical Kellas holiday.
