Thursday night, I met Matt in the city for a fun filled night out on the town.
We started off at Art Gotham gallery in Chelsea for the opening of the artist Stanley Philoche. The pictures on his site really don't do his work justice, they were fantastic in person. We chatted with the artist a bit (he reminded me of Basquiat) and after his prompting, started to touch his paintings, feeling their smoothness and imperfections. It was a great experience, I am glad I went...and there was free wine.
The gallery was small so after a wee bit we hopped in my car and drove to the LES to an openbar.com event at Summer's Restaurant. We should have figured that only an hour into a 3 hour event all the booze would already be gone. We got a glass of wine anyway then went a couple of doors down to a bar that had a happy hour going on. Laura met us there and after some faffing about, we ended up at the Clinton Street Bakery for a delectable meal.
I could barely walk when we got out of the restaurant, so I drove us to Bowery for the night's main event, the We Are Scientists concert, instead of walking.
The concert was awesome, Matt and I felt like the oldest ones there, but it was awesome. The above is a flickr shot from mediaeater we got into. See that big kid in front of me? During the last song, him and some other idiots started moshing into me, so I totally elbowed him in the stomach and called him a dickweed. And I believe what Matt is staring at there are the two people who were making out up against the stage. If this picture was taken two seconds earlier, that totally would have been me full out gaping at them. For our review of the show and more pictures, make sure to check out The Music Slut.
