Rainy Wednesday

What a miserable day. I didn't get the job I really wanted and spent the entire day teary, feeling defeated. The job was writing for a hotel review site. And it came with dental. They fly you to Aruba AND clean your teeth. I got to the second round in the application process and boom, rejection letter. It's just the accumulation of a million little things which lately I've put my heart into and come so close to attaining and... Nothing. All for naught. And not just jobs, other things in life that are more important.

I suppose the only good thing about today was that the weather seemed to be in the same mood. It rained harder than I've seen in a long time and the ground shook with rolls of thunder. I curled up on the couch at about 3pm and turned on the movie channel.

I've always found this to be true

The intellectual life is why I am a New Yorker. It's why I stay here. I spend my summers in Europe and when they ask me if I'm an American, I say, 'No, I'm a New Yorker.' I don't know about everyone else, but for me that's a positive statement.

This One Night

Things like this make my heart soar. Thanks HipsterRunOff.com for making a snarky comment about it so that I could see it. Want to know something, it sorta made me cry. I love weddings.

Baby Boom

Saturday, the Joseph's (aka, my beautiful friends Daniella and Jeremy. aka, 2/3 of the band Holy Moly, aka, member of After the Jump) had a housewarming at their new digs in Kensington (Brooklyn, not London). It was a lovely, baby, yummy, random poo on the floor, Michael Jackson in the courtyard, Balderdash affair. And any excuse for hanging out with Dylan is always welcome.

The Summer is Free

Manhattan Avenue street fair

The queue outside the East River Park in Williamsburg to get into the Pool Party went down Kent St. and around to the other side of the block. It reached all the way to Greenpoint.

Italian Street Fairs and Friends

Every year in the slowly vanishing Italian community in Williamsburg, the Dance of the Giglio festival is held. Much more intimate and authentic feeling than the San Gennaro celebration and nearly as large. Sea and I wandered through the streets and shared a sausage and peppers and bag of zeppolis. We took a turn around the bazar in the church basement where I wanted to buy a book to support them. When I asked an older lady at the door where to pay she goes "with one of those ladies..or just take it." I love Italians. Unable to bring myself to steal from a church, even with permission, I found someone to pay, a middle aged woman whom took the book from my hands, roughly flipped through the pages and shoved it back in my hand "One dolla." "That just made my night" said Sea.

You can read more about the festival on Curbed.

Afterward, we met up with roomie Ryan and girlfriend Emma to see our friends Daniella, Jared and Jeremy, or trio Holy Moly, at Pete's Candy Store.

The Best Yogurt in the World

At least, I think so. My mom used to take my sister and I to Bloomies to go shopping every week (and sometimes more) and we always stopped in the restaurant and had their famous, plain frozen yogurt. I got a little over excited a couple of weeks ago when I found this card in my room at home. I thought I had lost it. Welcome to a summer of me trying to fill it up.

Oh and ps, doesn't the "sprinkles" look like someone sprinkled something else on there?

All That and a Bag of Chips

This is my first, weekly dj party and it's theme is all 90's. I'm going to have to dig out my hot dogger outfit.
